Factsheet Production Factsheets are an essential part of the fund management business. Without accurate, high quality and timely factsheets, fund managers would not generate new business. Factsheets are predominately used in the retail market although with the success of recent years and the efficiency of structures such as fund of funds, more and more institutional clients are investing percentages of their portfolios in retail funds. This makes it compelling to ensure that your client reporting systems produce both the client reports as well as the factsheets - or they should at least be accessing the same data sources to ensure consistency. As well as the high volumes of monthly factsheets, fund managers also have to deal with multilingual and regulatory constraints of regional governing bodies.
Prospectus and Annual Report Behind every fund/product, the asset manager needs to provide accurate prospectus and annual report documents for publication to their shareholders. Each off these has a significant management overhead and needs to be produced to the best quality to ensure that the manager’s reputation is kept at a premium.
VRS sees these documents, both of which can run from 25 to 125 or more pages, in multilingual formats, as standard products that can be handled efficiently and without stress.
Whereas annual reports are produced at a set time in the year, Prospectuses are updated whenever there is a fundamental change to the set up or management of the fund umbrella. The reporting solution needs to be easily updated with the minimal cost and time to market.
As with the fund fact sheets, prospectuses and annual reports need to be published to websites and to clients in their thousands through print and distribution processes.
One Future, One Solution Vermilion Reporting Suite (VRS) provides the future – a straight through client reporting solution.
With VRS, valuation, risk and performance data are pulled from any number of underlying systems. Client account details may be maintained within VRS screens or pulled from any CRM system. Manual commentary from financial writers is typed or cut and pasted in to the user friendly Commentary Editor within VRS. These comments may be chained to data, parameterised or filtered to allow for extensive reuse. Not only may data need to be pulled or created; a sign off process may also be required. A composite security access matrix allows only certain roles and users access to aspects of the system. If sign-off of reports is required by fund managers, legal and compliance departments before publication, the security matrix will ensure that the appropriate users and/or roles only have access to specific areas. Finally a Workflow Module may manage and control this entire process, polling for ready data, prompting users through email URL to complete any number of tasks before generating a batch of marketing quality and usually personalised reports. These valuation, investment, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily, factsheet, hedge or private client reports may need a final sign off by a Client Reporting Analyst before the workflow schedule will automatically send them to print, FTP or email. The all encompassing Workflow engine tracks, audits and manages this complex process with the click of a button – regardless of whether you run just a few accounts or thousands.
By using a single straight through reporting solution, you are in the best position to provide the efficient delivery of quality reports while being capable of handling ever increasing amounts of complex content in an array of formats.
When template changes need to occur, the intelligent and flexible rendering tool within VRS empowers the users to drag and drop new components, completely rebrand old styles, customise and personalise their reports independent of IT.
Clean Data? If data is not already collected from a clean source such as a processed data repository, or in some cases even if it is, VRS is able to automatically apply last minute custom data validation checks on what is rendered such as 100% total confirmations, inconsistency reviews or percentage-change-since-last-reporting on the data, alerting the workflow and client service teams that something needs closer inspection and potentially revision before being allowed to be published.
