Superior results, page after page The Rendering Service compiles all your report content into page layouts ready to output a premium quality finished document that adheres to your company's corporate style and branding. It takes care of pagination, headers/footers and footnotes and allows complete content personalization for individual reports.
Having created your desired content, the Rendering Service prepares documents for output. Commentary, images, tables, charts and graphs are compiled into pre-defined, re-usable templates linking to sources in the Data Gateway Service.
User friendly drag and drop technology delivered through web-based screens make report population quick and easy. Content is automatically personalized and corporate style and branding consistently applied to each template in a process designed to minimize errors. Documents can be produced in all the most popular file formats including Word (.doc), PowerPoint, PDF, HTML, XML, Excel and CSV. No matter what format, the results are always stunning.
Report Design for Users Whether its valuation reports, product fact-sheets, or quarterly investment reports, VRS reports are created using user friendly and powerful web-based design screens, creating report components and report layouts working off data extracts developed by technical resources within their own secure Data Gateway design screens.
Security permissions against all reporting elements are used to define read only or update access for the various different types of users, ensuring that unauthorized or accidental edits cannot destabilize the production environment.
Report design is functionally rich with floating flow and non-flow areas, tables of contents, headers, footers, footnotes, text, images, advanced tables, charts and page columns to play with.
Account Personalisation Each element of a report may be defined to hide or show itself conditionally, allowing account level personalization under user control, so if a client wants customisation – then this is under business user control.
Account Aging Each client account or product run through the system will have its own age and report data boundaries that need to be handled automatically by the system.
VRS can automatically hide rows or columns of data on tables or charts if it’s inappropriate (e.g. a 4 year old account doesn’t need a column showing 5 year performance).
Vermilion also realize that accounts sometimes close, and these situations also need to be handled. Using the same component library, closure report templates may be defined to ensure that these requirements are handled efficiently and consistently when necessary.
Functions and Data VRS tables are able to incorporate row and group level functions including conditional tests to allow a higher level of flexibility if required.
Value wizards are available to use fields either from the chosen data source or from related reference data that is automatically resolved for the user, reducing the complexity of report design whilst increasing the potential information available for reporting.
Branding Control All reporting elements are branded using corporate standards using styles that are centralized, allowing re-branding and brand adjustments to occur cost effectively at source.
Report Output Report definitions may be generated into any of the output formats – the same definition works perfectly and consistently for all – Word (.doc), PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, CSV or XML.
For PowerPoint, the same rules apply, with editable Charts, Tables, Text and Footnotes features seamlessly included. VRS also adds additional functionality to PowerPoint, allowing Tables of Contents and pagination to be provided over and above the basic Microsoft offering, as well as enhanced table functionality.
VRS can produce all output formats off the same template.
On-demand Reporting VRS users may generate reports for any account/fund for any date at any time through interactive VRS screens. Past reports can easily be reproduced if required (subject to the data still existing).
On-demand reporting can occur at any time and as such may be requested before data has been entered, cleaned or signed-off. Should this happen, VRS will automatically mark these situations against (and inside) the report to ensure that they are not distributed without being aware of these issues.
Multilingual Reporting VRS has been designed to understand that reports associated with a language will require automatic adjustment of everything that goes into the final deliverable –to ensure that the same report template is capable of generating any language without the need for multiple definitions and their associated additional costs.
Report Automation Automated reports, created through the Workflow Service may also be packaged and delivered automatically to clients through email, web-portals or staging directories ready for print fulfilment. Final approval that allows client services departments to review the documents before distribution may also be enforced. Optional data validation and verification will already have been performed through the workflow before each report is allowed to generate – meaning that the data will already be as clean as possible before the data is applied to the canvas.
Filed Output Generated reports, whether on-demand or automated through the workflow will then be filed automatically into the VRS Report Library ready for efficient and secure Report Explorer access.
Scaled Performance VRS is designed as a highly scalable solution – capable of running on a laptop or on a cluster of enterprise servers, working together to generate the desired reports as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
A standard basic installation of VRS will involve one Windows server running against an Oracle database. Depending on production requirements, this could support batches of up to 1000+ reports with little impact on user performance. As the numbers of reports or user demands increase then additional servers can be slotted in to run the software within server farms to reduce bottlenecks within the user interface or on the report production.
